With the sun up, high in the bright blue sky, and the temperature settled in the high-sixties, it was one of those days that was not too hot, and not too cold. The leaves on the trees were starting to come back in thick, green heaves, and the flowers were starting to bud again in each bush around the school. All morning, Rose had been glad that she had come back to the school today. As she made her way across the ground, she turned around to look at the grffindor towar over her shoulder and then smiled to herself..
She had on a pair of jeans and a white hollister hoodie, her shoes and she was heading up to the owlery. Since she had no way of physically talking to James, and seeing as the castle was huge, and it would take all day to try and find him, she figured she'd send an owl to him instead. She pulled a piece of parchment out of her pocket, scribbled a meeting place and a time down on it, along with her name, and then tied it to an owl's leg. She couldn't help but smile, it'd been a while since she'd been so eager to spend time with someone. Especially her best friend, as well as Remus and Sirius.
It only took her a few minutes to walk to Hogsmeade after visiting the school this morning to speak with the headmaster and when she entered the small bar she wasn't surprised to see so many of her old classmates. Ever since the Order had taken her out of school for half the year, she hadn't seen so many of them. But there was one in particular that she was dying to see again. She spotted a table near the window and made her way over to it, then sat down, hoping that he'd gotten her note.

Oh James had gotten her note, that was for damn sure. The young man had been minding his own business, playing with the snitch he'd come to think of as a pet, beside the lake. He'd let it go, reach out and snatch it before It could get far away and would repeat the same actions several more times. After a moment he'd heard a swishing sound right past his head and something soft sliced across his neck. He jerked and grabbed the snitch in his hand, before looking around frantically for what had hit him.He pocketed the little ball before turning to see if it was a friend of his, firing a spell at him as a joke.
Instead, as soon as he was facing the lake, he was attacked - in the face - by an owl. With a yell of surprise, James jerked back and grabbed the owl by it's legs, careful so he wouldn't hurt it. The owl hooted excitedly, seeming to be proud that it had gotten to James, before it began to ruffle it's feathers wildly.
"Alright alright! Don't get your knickers in a twist." James said before untying the note from it's leg and letting the thing go. The owl hooted excitedly before taking flight. James rolled his eyes and brushed some feathers from his blue jeans and gray sweater. Carefully, he unfolded the note and read. Instantly, his eyes brightened and he shoved it in his pocket, beside the idle snitch. With a quick look at his reflection in the lake, he took off down the path to Hogsmead. His hands were in his pockets, idly fingering the snitch inside, who's wings were folded against it's golden body.
James hadn't seen Rose in ages and the thought of seeing his friend again was exciting. He had broken off into a run at the last few yards of the path and when he reached the Three Broomsticks, he spotted the girl inside. With a grin, he ruffled his hair before stepping inside and making his way over to her. Silently, he stood behind her for a moment before speaking.
"What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Rose had just then gotten around to ordering herself a butterbeer and she got up from her comfy chair by the window to get it from the counter. The all of a sudden a very familiar voice seemed to come from behind her as she was set her money upon the wooden counter of the bar in front of her. Rose knew this voice very well, but what she couldn't seem to remember was the last time that she had heard it.
Rose turned her head to see the taller James Potter standing in front of her. The sight of seeing him again brought a sweet smile to her face as she looked up at the 7th year. He had not changed very much, besides maybe his hair growing out a bit or two and growing maybe an inch taller or so, but it all didn't really matter. Rose had simply missed his smile and the sound of his voice. James probably hadn't missed her too much, but then again they were best friends after all, what could she expect from him besides that?
After returning his smile with her own, Rose excitedly threw her arms around him, not really caring if she'd knock him over or not. "Looking for you" she said as she hugged him tightly before letting go. "James, what's the matter with you? You look the same as the day I left." she laughed and then shook her head. "But that's okay...I would've been disappointed if you had grown any taller."she shrugged her shoulders. "How are you? Did you make Head Boy? Are Remus and Lupin okay? Where are they? You haven't got into anymore trouble have you?"she rushed her questions in excitment at being back at her school.

James had to laugh as Rose threw her arms around him in greeting. He chuckled slightly as her slipped his arms around her waist, picked her off the floor and spun her one time before setting her back down carefully. He'd learned from Blaze the importance of being gentle with members of the opposite sex, a.k.a, females. He'd play fought with girls before but he never actually realized that he could be a real macho ass sometimes.
In the end, he learned he had to be really gentle.
"Slow your roll woman!" James laughed as he placed his hands on her shoulders to get her to calm down. She was throwing questions at him here and there and he couldn't answer if he couldn't understand a word of what she was saying. Once he was sure Rose had calmed down quite a bit, he pulled his hands back and stuck them in his pockets. A grin spread across his face and a mischievous look sparkled in his hazel eyes. "First off, I'm perfectly fine. Second, I did make Head Boy!" James stuck out his chest, proudly. A shiny badge was pinned to it, marking his authority of Head Boy.
"Lastly, Remus and Sirius are fine, dear. Remus is being the usual nerdy self, studying every hour of the day - practically - and Sirius is going around the school hitting on every girl he lays eyes on. You know, the usual for him." James grinned. He made Sirius sound like more of a whore than he actually was. In reality, Sirius was a gentle soul who really just wanted some love and attention...yeah right! Sirius was a bad ass - most of the time - but he was actually a pretty good guy most of the day. Then again, he could be a real stinker...

Rose stepped back a little after James et her down, to give him some room. She had a feeling that maybe she had come on a little too strongly for being away for a whole year, but she didn't care. She had wealt so awkwardly for being gone so long. It felt like she had been in a different country for the whole year. Different places, people, problems...it all felt strange to her , but being back and with her friend was all that seemed to matter at the point in time. She had felt a little angry at the Order for taking her away so early. They practically took away a year of her life just to train and teach her.
Rose rolled her eyes with a smile still onm her face as James declared his new position as Head Boy of Gryffindor House. "How'd you get that then? Did you bribe Dumbledore with a few galleons?" Rose teased and pushed him lightly on the chest, pushing him back a bit, then she shook her head with a light laugh. "I'm only joking James. I'm really happy to hear that you made Head BoyI always knew you were still on the headmaster's good side" she smiled and then decided to change the subject again. "Well that's good. At least if Sirius is behaving himself that is." Rose giggled and looked up at James.
"I'm sorry if I almost killed you with questions....It's just so wierd to see you again. A whole year is like forever...." she sighed as the waitor handed her two butterbeers and she then set them down upon the wooden table. "I hope you're thinking of getting your grades up so you can join me in.. well you know where" she said, gazing over at some Slytherin students who were sitting nearby. "Or at least the Ministry...I'm sure they'd accept you" Rose said. There was Rose, being the organized know it all again like she was a year ago.

"How'd you get that then? Did you bribe Dumbledore with a few galleons?"
Rose had inquired on James being the head boy of Gryffindor now. He played a fake hurt look at her before grinning. "No...I didn't bribe him with a few galleons, thank you very much! I'm shocked. Just appalled!" James' hand found it's way up to his hair and he ruffled it a bit. "I bribed him with a dozen galleons and some acid pops. Why, I'm hurt that you think I'd be that cheap!" With a smile James took a seat at the stool beside Rose. "Actually, he told me he knew I would do a good job. He said I may make a lot of trouble sometimes but when I have to work, I work my ass off."
James smiled at a few boys and girls he knew from Gryffindor. He was rather popular - as were Remus and Sirius - but he seemed more well known than they did. Dumbledore had always seemed to have a special place in his heart for James, as corny as that sounded, and when James found out he was named head boy, he immediately questioned Dumbledore as to why he chose him. The man had simply replied that James was a fine boy that just got his head in the clouds sometimes. James smiled. He'd always respected Dumbledore. He had promised himself never to prank him simply because he was who he was.
"It's not your fault. I'd probably want to know a million things as well." with a sigh, James adjusted himself on the stool. "My grades are great actually...but even if they weren't I think they'd let me...join." James smiled. "Smarty pants."

Rose smirked as James played his hurt act. Typical James. Rose took a sip of her butterbeer, making a wierd face at him before setting it down on the wooden table once more. "Well.. I had a suspicious feeling when you told me that's all..." she frowned a bit as she looked at him and then turned her attention to the window as James continued to explain about his relationship between he and Dumbledore. "Well, Dumbledore's right, so it's obvious he made a good choice" Rose replied, not expecting any response back from James. She guessed that maybe James wouldn't accept the compliment which was wierd since she had known him since their first day at Hogwarts. At times, Rose was a little jealous of James, how he was never teased about being smart or being a little bit outgoing. Rose on the other hand always felt like she couldn't look at the other girls of the school without being glared or sneered at. That was a difference that was thrown into their friendship. Rose had been a little been of a freak to the other school girls, but she told herself to shrug all their gossip and teasing off, in the end, it dodn't really matter much. At least she hoped that the Order would accept her. As Rose thought about all this, she turned her focus back to James and his talk.
"I know James. You should know by know that I know you much better than that." she smiled and rolled her eyes at him a little, taking another sip of her butterbeer as she did so. "Besides, I've only been gone a year anyway.." she said with a slight shrug of her small shoulders.

"I know James. You should know by know that I know you much better than that."
"I know you know me better than that, Rosey!" he said, a playful grin on his face. He trusted Rose with a lot. She may not have been a marauder - no one else could be one - but she was a very intelligent and very trustworthy. James trusted that his judgment of character was very good. After all, he had the greatest friends, the greatest family, the greatest life. However, he was missing the greatest romance (Lily) but for now, he'd settle with being just a little incomplete. Whether he did get Lily or not (he had faith that she'd fall for his boyish and playful charm in the end. After all, who wouldn't?) he knew he'd always have his friends and family. He had Blaze and Rose, both of whom he could talk to with just about anything.
He also had Remus and Sirius, both of which he could talk to with positively anything. Any problem he couldn't tell the girls about, he could tell the boys. As for Peter Pettigrew, James didn't care for him much. Sure they were friends but he hung around them more than he hung out with them. That irked James quite a bit since the reason the marauders had dubbed themselves, given them a name, was not to be heard of or looked up to, but to have just another memory for them. Something they could tell their future children about and something that they'd always hold onto no matter where their lives took them.
"Anyways..." James was getting emotional just thinking about it. "How does it feel to be back?"

Rose lifted her mug and took a sip of her butterbeer, then set in down on the table in front of her as she looked back up at James with her big honey brown eyes. She couldn't help but smile when James emarked to her comment. "Good" she simply had to reply. She was glad that James hadn't forgoten about her. Although, he would never be that thick, since he was a smart guy anyway. None of them had. All of her close friends were pretty smart, and Rose had a feeling that Dumbledore trusted all of them, especially James for a special reason. There was a lot of things about James that could make himself stand out from everyone else in Gryffindor, that was for sure.
Rose turned away from her thoughts, remembering talk of Sirius and Lupin. "It feels a little awkward...but really good at the same time. In a way it feels like I was gone for a week...you haven't changed that much...at least from what I can tell" she smiled and turned her head from him, spotting a group of Slytherin students pestering some birds outside the window. "Did Remus make Head Boy as well?"She asked looking at him. "Surely Dumbledore made him one too" Rose said, her finger running around the rip of her mug. She had so much to cath up on, she only hoped James wouldn't get annoyed by her questions.
"Did you miss me at all?" she asked with a small laugh as she took another sip of her drink.

Indeed it was quite true. There were several things that made James stand out among the rest. For one thing, James was not a boy to take no for an answer. No one in their right mind had heard him ever to give up easily. In fact, a majority of the time, James would have to go out kicking and screaming before he was fully ready to give up on something. Lily was an exception to that rule considering he'd never wanted anything as bad as he'd wanted her. Her hair, her eyes...every detail about her drove James crazy. When James was crazy (about something) there was absolutely no stopping him. Ever. Even kicking and screaming would have virtually no affect on it.That was mister James Potter for you.
James turned his attention to Rose as she spoke again, now shaking out of his dozens of thoughts. That was another thing about him, when he thought, he could day dream for hours.
"It felt like you were gone for quite a while actually." James said as he sipped a new mug of butterbeer. He allowed the warm liquid to swish around in his mouth for a moment before he swallowed and spoke again. "It feels like nothings changed now that you're back though. You're the same gorgeous and sweet girl that I knew before the little vacation." James gave Rose a small grin. He loved to flirt. Not just with anyone but with girls he was close too and with Lily - he couldn't really consider himself close to her as she virtually wanted nothing to do with him.
"And yes," James said, another smile on his face. "I missed you a lot. It was hard not being able to talk to you."
